1. USA Climbing Youth Age Categories 2024-2025

The USA Climbing Youth Age Categories for 2024-2025 season are now available. With the new season upon us, it is important for climbers to be aware of the age categories so that they can compete in the correct category. The USA Climbing Youth Age Categories are based on the climber’s age as of December 31st of the competition year. Climbers must be a member of USA Climbing in order to compete in any USA Climbing sanctioned event.

The Youth Age Categories are as follows:

Micro: 8 years old and under
Youth A: 9-10 years old
Youth B: 11-12 years old
Youth C: 13-14 years old
Youth D: 15-16 years old
Junior: 17-19 years old

The Micro category is a non-competitive category for climbers 8 years old and under. All other categories are competitive.

In addition to the Youth Age Categories, there are also Open and Masters categories. The Open category is for climbers of all ages. The Masters categories are for climbers 40 years old and over. Climbers can compete in multiple categories, but they can only earn points towards one category. For example, a climber can compete in the Youth B and Open categories, but they can only earn points towards the Youth B category.

Elite Youth Climbing Team

The Elite Youth Climbing Team (EYCT) is a nationally recognized program that provides a pathway for young climbers to reach their highest potential. EYCT members are selected through a competitive tryout process and receive training and support from top coaches. The team competes in national and international events, and many EYCT alumni have gone on to become world-class climbers.

The 2024-2025 EYCT will be composed of 12 athletes, six boys and six girls. The athletes will be selected based on their performance at the 2024 Youth National Championships. The team will train at the USA Climbing Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and will compete in a variety of events throughout the year.

The EYCT is a valuable resource for young climbers who are looking to take their climbing to the next level. The team provides athletes with access to top-notch training facilities, coaching, and competition opportunities. EYCT members also benefit from a sense of community and camaraderie with other talented climbers.
